Your gift supports the work of Roger C. Sullivan High School where students develop the academic skills and strong character they need to grow into purposeful lives.
The Friends of Sullivan Board, in consultation with Sullivan’s Principal, directs funds to three key areas: Academics, Arts and Athletics.
Each year, Friends of Sullivan funds several important events:
- Holiday activities, including our Annual Thanksgiving Celebration, where our immigrant and refugee population celebrates our most quintessential of American holidays, and the students share with those of us attending that for which they are thankful.
- Events for local middle school students to interest them in attending Sullivan, including our annual Martin Luther King Day Middle School Basketball Tournament, where local 7th and 8th Graders engage in a fun and educational day of competition and discussions about Dr. King’s legacy, while also engaging with Sullivan basketball players and learning more about the school. In time, your contributions will allow us to host a similar Girl’s activity as well.
- Year end activities - either a teacher appreciation luncheon, celebrating the accomplishments of Sullivan’s amazing faculty and honoring those retiring, or, during Covid, a summertime picnic for graduating seniors.

Student Success Fund
Gifts to Friends of Sullivan support and enhance the curricular and extra-curricular opportunities for all students at Sullivan. Past gifts have supported the creation of the Ellen Glasser Global Center (a place where all students can gather, newcomers can share their stories and build friendships), our sports teams, special class projects and trips, the arts and all-school events. These gifts allow Sullivan teachers and staff to go beyond in personalizing learning for our students.
Sullivan HS College Startup Fund
The Friends of Roger C. Sullivan College Startup Fund provides an opportunity for applicant students to receive post-secondary financial assistance as they transition to college. Students may use the funds for transportation to school, boarding costs, program fees, supplies or even something as basic as setting up their dorm room! This Fund provides our students with the financial resources to achieve their dreams of college and career.
Please contribute generously to see that many of our students receive this valuable support.
Counseling Suite Fund
Friends of Sullivan “special project” for 2022 - 23 is in response to the school’s great need for a dignified and appropriate area designed for counseling services.
The Counseling Suite at Sullivan High will provide a space for counselors to share resources, interventions and programs to support students' mental health and identify students who are struggling. The Counseling Suite provides an opportunity for all students to improve their social-emotional well-being. A significant number of Sullivan's students are refugees who have experienced trauma and economic hardship in the relocation process making this an essential tool for healing. The school’s esteemed team of guidance counselors will also use the suites to offer life enhancing career and college counseling to students preparing for life following graduation.
Project Goal - $30,000
Project Deadline - March, 2023
COUNSELING SUITE IS FULLY FUNDED!
